Sleeping With a Blower

By Affnan

Its been a while since my last article on the Pug's DIY,  my web site is down cos' the provider no longer provide free web hosting :(  , there goes my ECU articles.

So lets get started, I am having problem with the aircond blower, its occasionally require a "kick start" to bring it alive and its not easy to do when your're driving down the motorway at "break neck" speed at the same time kicking the compartment on the passenger side.

In this article, I am providing a step by step guide of how to remove, service and possibly repair the blower on the Peugeot 405, the SRi to be exact, because that's the car I have !

Tools

1. Screw Driver - Philip Head (No. 2)

2. Screw Driver - Plain (No. 2)

3. Torch Light

4. Paint Brush or Shop Air

5. Soldering Iron & Solder (Carbon Brush Replacement Only)

Location

It is located on the front passenger side forward below the glove compartment.

Getting to it require the panel above the passenger foot to be removed. This panel is held by 2 retaining clip, which can be simply pry out using a plain screw driver.

Once the retainer clip is removed, the panel come off easily. Becareful not to damage this retainer, its a simple piece of item but could be difficult to replace once damaged or missing.

Now the hard part, you must be a contortist to get to the blower which is located above that removed panel.

A hah ! Yep that the blower, almost spraint my neck trying to get a good close-up photo of this baby. This is an "upskirt" photo of your passenger side ! Gents.

Remove the electrical connector (1 off) on the forward left of this blower.

Next undo the 3 screws that hold the blower up on the ducting manifold.

Carefully lower the blower and take it out, there are some wires that may be obstructing it from coming out easily, just push them genlty aside should do the trick.

Once out we'll start the dismantling process.
